How to Adjust the Headlight Height on a Mercedes A-Class W176

Let's see how to adjust the headlights on your Mercedes A-Class W176: the adjustment should be done on a flat surface with the fuel tank half full and without additional load; tire pressure must be correct. Park 15 to 30 feet away from a light-colored wall; turn on the low beams and use tape to mark the exact center of the light beam from each headlight. Now, draw a horizontal line on the wall connecting these two points, which will serve as a reference. Measure the height from the ground to the center of one of the low beam headlights (from the ground to the center of the headlight) and transfer this measurement to the wall, starting from the horizontal line you drew, marking a new point. Draw a new horizontal line representing the maximum allowed height for the light beam cutoff. The adjusters, as shown in the video, are located on the back of the headlight assembly, and there are two screws, one for horizontal adjustment and one for vertical adjustment. Turn on the low beams: the light cutoff should be slightly below the second horizontal line you drew (the one corresponding to the height of the headlight). Adjust one headlight at a time, covering the other with cardboard, using a screwdriver clockwise to raise the light beam and counterclockwise to lower it.
