How to Replace the Gear Knob on a Mercedes SLK

You can replace the gear knob on a Mercedes SLK by prying off the clips located at the base of the leather gaiter with an object. Once these are removed, you can lift the gaiter to locate the ring underneath that connects it to the knob. By widening this ring, you can detach the knob from the selector, allowing you to insert the new replacement part. The new part should be secured by tightening the ring onto the lever, and then you can reattach the clips at the base of the gaiter.
