How to Add Brake Fluid on a Mercedes Vito W447

On the Mercedes Vito W447, the brake fluid reservoir is located in the engine bay, on the driver's side (for left-hand drive models). To add fluid: clean the area around the cap thoroughly before opening it to prevent dirt and moisture from entering the system.

Unscrew the cap and check the level, which should be between the MIN and MAX marks on the side of the reservoir. If the level is low, top up with DOT 4 fluid to the MAX mark, without exceeding it. The system is sealed: if the level drops frequently, there is a leak in the system that needs to be repaired as soon as possible.

If you are performing brake work (pad replacement, bleeding), it is normal for the level to rise when pushing back the pistons: in that case, it is better not to top up to MAX to avoid overflow. After topping up, securely close the cap. Brake fluid is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture) and should be replaced every 2 years regardless of mileage.
