How to Replace the External Rearview Mirror Cover in Seconds

Model: Mercedes Classe E W210 - Years 1995-2002

The cover that protects the rearview mirror can be easily removed in no time. Let's see how.
First, put the mirror in the closed position by carefully forcing it, which will give you access to the inside to disconnect the spring that holds the painted cover to the rest of the mirror using a flathead screwdriver.
At this point, return the mirror to the open position and gently slide off the cover by pulling it toward you. If the cover does not come off easily and you feel some friction or resistance, fold the mirror back to the closed position and check that the cover is completely detached.
Now, if the cover is broken, you can replace the old cover with a new one by simply pushing the new piece onto the mirror until the internal spring clicks. At this point, gently pull the new cover toward you to ensure it is securely attached to the rest of the mirror.
