How do you open the door of a Mercedes when the remote battery is dead?

In order to open the door of the Mercedes when the remote control battery is dead, you need to remove the key from inside the remote control by pressing the button located on its top: once the key is removed, you need to remove the cover next to the handle that covers the underlying lock. Once the lock becomes accessible, you can insert the key inside and turn it counterclockwise: by doing so, the lock will be unlocked and the door can be opened. Finally, you can reinsert the key into the remote control.
