How to Change the Oil on a Mini Cooper S R56
Model: Mini Mini
R55, R57, R56
- Years 2007-2014
To perform the oil change on a Mini Cooper S R56, first lift the front of the car, open the oil filler cap (to facilitate draining), then place a large container under the sump and unscrew the drain bolt, allowing the used oil to drain: dispose of it along with the filter at an authorised centre. On the R56, although the filter is located at the bottom, it is accessible from the top, but the coolant reservoir is in front and obstructs access, so you need to remove it by unscrewing an 8 mm bolt, detaching a lower pin, and two front clips. Unscrew the filter cover, replace the O-ring lubricating the new one with clean oil, insert the new filter, replace the cover, and fit the new drain plug with a new washer. Refit the coolant reservoir, add about 3.5 litres of oil according to the manufacturer's specifications, start the engine to fill the filter, then check with the dipstick and top up with a little oil at a time until just below the "max" mark on the dipstick.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHow to Dismantle the Heating Radiator on a Mini Cooper
Let’s see how to dismantle the heating radiator on a Mini Cooper. First, remove the plastic cover of the centre tunnel (located under the centre tunnel on the left). Unscrew the securing screws with a screwdriver, and remove the black plastic cover that hides the heating radiator. Once all the described operations are completed, move to the engine bay: remove the plastic engine cover and disconnect the two hoses (unscrew the securing clips if present) of the radiator that goes into the cabin, allowing the fluid to drain. Disconnect the radiator from the pipes inside the cabin. Work in reverse for all the assembly steps. by ScegliAuto More videos
