Before starting any mechanical maintenance on vehicles, position the car on a flat surface or on a ramp to work safely. After taking this precaution, to replace and upgrade the rear headlamp unit of the Mini Cooper, first remove the chrome trim of the headlamp using a plastic lever.

Underneath, along the perimeter, you will find three screws; unscrew them using the appropriate screwdriver. This gives you access to the bulbs in case you want to replace any of them.

In this case, disconnect the power and replace the entire headlamp unit with a new LED one. Refit everything, and you're done!
