How to Replace the Alternator on a Mini Cooper

Before you can start, open the bonnet of your Mini Cooper. Begin by unscrewing the Torx screws that secure the front bumper, then remove the bumper itself.

Once done, remove the internal aluminium bumper. At this point, remove the radiator bolts to shift it just enough to access the alternator.

Once you reach the alternator, loosen the tensioner, then unscrew the bolt that secures the alternator in place. After completing this step, you can remove the alternator, finishing the disassembly.

To fit the new alternator and reassemble everything, simply follow these instructions in reverse, and the replacement will be complete.
