How to replace the auxiliary belt on a Mini

Model: Mini Mini R52, R50, R53 - Years 2001-2007
Part: V-belt

In this video we see how to change the drive belt on a Mini One, Cooper or R53. First, we will need to remove the wheel and the front right wheel arch lining, removing all the screws that hold it connected to the bodywork. Our youtuber removed the coolant pipe, but only for the ease of filming. Now that the wheel arch has been removed, we have good access to the belt. We will need to remove an electrical connector located on a bracket, in front of the belt. Now we can see the tensioner well, where there is a slot for a 3/8" ratchet. Loosen it and insert an Allen key into the slot next to it, so that we can remove the belt, which has loosened. Our youtuber shows us an explanatory drawing of the path the belt must take during reassembly, so it goes around everything except the tensioner. Once the belt is in position, lift the tensioner and remove the key we had inserted, and the job is done.
