This guide shows how to adjust the ignition points on a Moto Guzzi V65. This operation should be performed periodically to ensure optimal engine performance. After removing the cover that allows access to the crankshaft and points block, turn the crankshaft using an Allen key while in neutral until the mark on the points nut reaches the top dead centre of the piston. After this operation, the gap between the point and nut should be 0.40 mm, checked with a feeler gauge, for this motorcycle. Adjust by loosening the screw located on the outside of the point in question; tapping on the plate secured by this screw will adjust the thickness. After confirming that the thickness is correct, reattach the cover and test the engine to ensure the adjustment was successful.
