Here’s How to Replace Brake Discs and Pads

Model: Vauxhall Astra Astra G - Years 1998-2006
Part: Brake rotors

Using a pair of needle-nose pliers, remove the wheel bolt covers, lift the car with a jack, and remove the wheel. Disconnect the brake wear sensor connector, loosen the spring above the brake caliper with a screwdriver, remove the caps as shown in the images, and unscrew the bolts of the caliper; once free, remove it. Take out the old pads, unscrew the bolts as shown in the figure, including those external to the disc, and now that the disc is free, remove it. Use a brush to clean the hub. Fit the new disc, aligning it carefully with the hub, and reattach the two external bolts that hold it securely. Once the caliper is cleaned, apply some Loctite to the bolts that hold the disc and reattach them. Fit the new pads and reassemble the caliper. Reattach the bolts, reconnect the brake wear sensor connector, and remount the wheel, and you’re done!
