The problem of the starter motor not engaging can occur, so first we need to check if the battery is discharged or weak (it should not drop below 10V during starting). Clean the terminals from corrosion and dirt on the clamps, with a metal brush and apply anti-oxidant grease. Try to restart the battery with a booster. If we hear a "click" but the starter motor does not turn, there may be a problem with the solenoid or internal contacts; try a direct test by connecting the starter motor directly to the battery, and also check the cables. It is also good to check the wear of the pinion - the gear that engages with the starter motor - and if necessary lubricate it with specific grease; check if all the teeth of the plate are there: that could be a reason for the lack of engagement. Another reason could be a faulty starter relay, so check that; in rare cases even the engine control unit could have had problems.

How to Remove the Final Drive from a BMW R 1200 GS?

To remove the final drive from a BMW R 1200 GS, loosen the bolts securing the exhaust so it can be removed along with the rear wheel.
