Video tutorial
To replace the number plate lights on a Peugeot 208 (2012-2019), open the boot lid. The lights are located at the top of the number plate, housed in two transparent plastic lamp holders. Using a thin lever tool (or a flat screwdriver covered with a cloth to avoid scratching), insert it into the slot on the side of the lamp holder and gently pry it out. Be careful: it is fragile plastic, so it's better to use your fingers to hold it while prying. Remove the lamp holder. The bulb is a W5W push fit. Using your fingers or long-nosed pliers, grasp the bulb and gently pull it out. Insert the new bulb (LED or halogen, your choice) in the same way. Before reassembling, test the light. Reposition the lamp holder by aligning the retaining tabs and pushing it until it clicks. Repeat for the other light. Note: if you install aftermarket LED bulbs, a CANBUS error may appear on the dashboard; in that case, you will need bulbs with built-in resistors or a specific module.
