How to unlock the electric handbrake of the Renault Scenic

On the Renault Scenic with electric handbrake, the manual release is performed from the trunk, in the spare wheel compartment. Before intervening, secure the vehicle on a flat surface and prevent any movement with wheel chocks, because once the EPB is released, the car can start to roll. Access the trunk and clear the loading area; if necessary, fold down the rear seats for more working space. Lift the floor covering to reach the compartment where the spare wheel is located. In this area, there is a red element with safety pictograms: operate this flap/cover to open it and reveal the emergency control. Inside, you will find a yellow "T" handle. At this point, use the handle to manually release the electric handbrake, working decisively and without sudden jerks. Once the operation is complete, correctly reposition the red flap/cover and close the compartment, keeping the area tidy to prevent parts or coverings from being out of place. After the release, move the vehicle only for the strictly necessary time and restore the correct functioning of the EPB as soon as possible (diagnosing and repairing the cause that required the release), because the car may not maintain a secure stop.
