The B Mode of the E-Tech Gearbox in the Renault Arkana

In the Renault Arkana with the E-Tech gearbox, as we can see in the video, there is a "B" mode, which allows us to recover more energy during deceleration, thereby charging the battery more; it simulates engine braking when the vehicle is descending and improves range in urban contexts; shifting the gear lever to the "B" position will result in a more pronounced deceleration as soon as you lift your foot off the accelerator. It is therefore almost necessary to use it when going downhill, to avoid overheating the brakes, in the city, to maximise the charging during braking. But be careful; this function does not replace the traditional emergency brake! Its effectiveness also heavily depends on the state of charge of the battery: if it is fully charged, the effectiveness will be more limited.
