The 1.0 TCe 100 HP engine from Renault is designed for long-term reliability with simplified maintenance, but there are some points to monitor. Its strengths include the chain, which does not require scheduled replacement; the simple design, which is less sensitive to fuel quality; the straightforward 3-cylinder architecture; and the service belt without a tensioner, which reduces wear-prone components and simplifies routine maintenance.

The market also shows many cars with over 124,000 miles; a problematic engine does not reach such mileage in so many examples.
