How to Replace the Number Plate Bulb on a Renault Kangoo II

Let's see how to replace the number plate light on a Renault Kangoo II. If we are only replacing the halogen bulb, start by opening the rear hatch; locate the bulb holder above the number plate (usually recessed in the bumper or hatch) and remove the plastic cover (either clipped or with a screw, depending on the year). Then, detach the bulb holder by turning it counterclockwise. Extract the old bulb (type W5W or T10) and insert the new bulb (LED or halogen), and finally reassemble the bulb holder and the cover. If we want to replace the halogen bulb with an LED, choose an LED bulb with a T10/W5W fitting and a colour temperature of 6000K (cool white) or 4000K (neutral); check the polarity, as LEDs are polarised. If they do not light up, reverse the bulb holder by 180°. On some Kangoo models (especially after 2008), the control unit detects the low resistance of the LEDs and signals an error "bulb blown". To resolve this, add a load resistor (canbus decoder) or use LED bulbs with an integrated decoder.
