Video tutorial
This guide shows how to replace the CV joint on the Renault Megane. Mechanical knowledge is required for this replacement. The first step is to remove the wheel on the side you are working on. Next, you need to remove the hub fixing bolt and the suspension bolt. Lift the disc to make it easier to extract the suspension from its housing. You can then pull the joint from the disc to work on it. Once the retaining clips are removed, cut the rubber protective boot, and using a suitable puller or a hammer, remove the part to be replaced. Clean the driveshaft of grease, then insert the new plastic boot; compress the spring washer at the end of the driveshaft, and after greasing the end of the joint, position it and tap it into place. Grease the inside of the joint and the rubber boot. Secure the metal clips. Refit the joint inside the disc and suspension and tighten the previously removed bolts. Clean the disc before refitting the tyre.
