Over time, the action of the sun and car wash detergents tend to dull the headlights: you can make them shine again by performing a thorough polishing with a special kit easily available in the aftermarket; the kit includes sandpaper of various grits, polishing paste, and a specific polishing pad; using toothpaste is definitely a method that can be avoided. Protect the area around the headlight with masking tape and start sanding the surface wet until it becomes uniformly dull; then proceed to polish with the paste and pad, and repeat the steps if necessary.
