Sunlight, weather conditions, and even car wash detergents tend to cloud headlights: you can restore their shine through a restoration process that is essentially a polishing operation. There is no point in attempting to polish the headlight with toothpaste. There are specific headlight restoration kits available on the market, consisting of very fine sandpaper, polishing paste, and a suitable pad. Start by cleaning the headlight, protect the surrounding bodywork with masking tape, sand the headlight wet until you achieve a uniform opaque surface, and polish with the appropriate paste; repeat the steps multiple times if necessary.
