Replacing Front Shock Absorbers

Model: Renault Modus MK 1 - Years 2004-2013
Part: Shocks

Replacing the front shock absorbers on this car model requires disassembling several components to access the strut towers, as well as having the appropriate tools to separate the spring from the damper. Start by lifting the vehicle on a ramp to remove the front wheel, disconnect the cable grommets, and proceed to remove the drop link and the mounting bolts of the shock absorber from the hub support. Lower the ramp to access the engine bay and remove the plastic cover grille located just below the windscreen, the underlying plastic cover, the wiper blades, and the associated drive mechanism. Then, unscrew the mounting nuts of the shock absorber support to extract it from its seat and apply clamps to the spring to compress it enough to remove the support from the shock absorber's sleeve. Insert the spring and support onto the new shock absorber and reverse the procedure.

How to Remove the Door Panel on a Mini

Perform the disassembly of the door panel (front right) on a Mini: disconnect the battery terminals located in the engine bay (if you need to disconnect terminals). Use a lever to remove the plastics in the area of the upper door opening lever and the screws present in the handle (if any). Remove the trim near the window, unscrew the remaining screws on the door panel and detach the securing clips. Finally, pull the panel away with your hands and detach it from the door (disconnect the power wiring and the opening cable).
