How to remove the rear bumper of a Smart Fortwo?

Model: Smart Smart 453 - Years 2014-2022
Part: Rear bumper

To remove the rear bumper of a Smart Fortwo, you need to start by positioning the vehicle on a stable surface and, if possible, lifting it slightly to have better access to the bottom. Open the rear hatch to locate the screws or bolts that secure the bumper at the top, usually near the inner edges. Proceed by checking the side anchoring points, located near the wheel arches: here you will find additional fastenings to loosen with a suitable tool. Moving under the car, locate the clips or additional screws that hold the bumper at the bottom. Once all fastenings have been removed, apply light pressure to release the bumper, paying attention to any electrical connectors for lights or integrated sensors. Disconnect them gently to avoid damage, then carefully remove the bumper.
