Replacing Number Plate Bulb on Smart Fortwo

Observe how the lights above the number plate are structured: you will notice a small slot on your left. Insert a small flat screwdriver into this slot and lever it out so that the light housing comes out of its seat.

Pull it out to work on it more comfortably and disconnect the connector (also using a small flat screwdriver here). Lever again in the slot of the light to remove the cover, then lever behind the bulb until it disconnects from the socket.

At this point, insert the new bulb and proceed in reverse for reassembly.
