What You Need to Know About the Toyota C-pod

Model: Toyota Cpod MK 1 - Years 2021-2026

The Toyota C-pod is a small, fully electric vehicle developed by Toyota for the complete electrification of cities. Since December 2021, it has been available for sale only in Japan, where it was already accessible through a car-sharing service and had been sold to rental companies and public entities. Now, it is also available to private customers at a price that (at the current yen exchange rate) is around $13,000. The C-pod is compact (98 in x 51 in x 61 in) and very lightweight, weighing only 1,521 lb. It has a wheelbase of just 70 in and a turning radius of 13 ft. With such a low weight, four disc brakes were unnecessary; in fact, it features drum brakes on the rear with tires similar to those on a Vespa: 155/75 R13. It comes standard with pedestrian and cyclist recognition, as well as parking sensors with automatic braking during maneuvers. The maximum speed is 37 mph (it's a city car, so this is more than sufficient) and the range is 93 mi. It can be charged at 200V in 5 hours or at 100V in 16 hours. We still do not know when it will be available in the USA.
