How to Inspect the MAP Sensor on a Toyota Yaris Hybrid

In this video, learn how to inspect the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor on a Toyota Yaris Hybrid: to access it, remove the air filter housing, then use an extension to remove the two 10 mm screws. Underneath, you will see the MAP sensor attached to the intake manifold. Now, go inside the vehicle and press the ignition button twice: with the vehicle not running, the measured value from the sensor is 98 KiloPascals, which is a bit low compared to the atmospheric value of 101, so the sensor may be out of calibration, but it does not trigger any error messages. Disconnect the sensor and check the reference wire, which should have about 5 volts. Indeed, the measured values on the wires are low, so remove the sensor, which is covered in oil. Clean it with CRC, and once cleaned, it will react much more quickly. Testing it again in Ohms shows a significant improvement. Before reinstalling, check the seal of the gasket carefully and refit it. Now the voltage is correct. A good clean was all it needed to get it back in shape.
