Certainly it will not be the only system and certainly there will be better ones, but this is just a suggestion for do-it-yourself, very simple and that can be done at home without a lot of equipment. It is a compression test, done by sending air into the cylinder, where it is assumed that the head is burnt, and at the same time keeping the coolant reservoir open. If the liquid comes out of the reservoir, then it means that it has increased in volume, because the air enters through the head gasket, enters the water circuit, and pumps inside, making it come out of the container.
