Can you put a traditional battery in a car with start & stop technology?

A question that often comes to mind is whether we can put a regular battery in a car with start & stop. The answer is: absolutely not. Cars with start & stop require batteries specifically designed to withstand the frequent charge and discharge cycles that occur when the engine shuts off and restarts automatically. These are AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) or EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) batteries and are built to withstand many more charge and discharge cycles than traditional batteries; the start & stop system requires high power to quickly start the engine; furthermore, many start & stop batteries are equipped with energy recovery systems during braking, which charge the battery during deceleration.
