The Safest Way to Work on a Vehicle Battery

Model: (Various brands) Various
Part: Battery

Video tutorial

This video explains a standard protocol that everyone should follow to work safely on vehicle batteries. The battery is dangerous even if it only has 12 volts, which are not harmful to a person; however, a car battery has hundreds of amps of current available.

If a short circuit occurs (if a screwdriver touches the positive terminal and the vehicle's metal body), the current is so high that it can literally weld the tool and cause violent sparks, severe burns, battery explosion, and damage to the car's electronics.

The golden rule is to always disconnect the negative terminal first: why? The entire body is connected to this terminal (negative ground system).

If you start by disconnecting the negative, the car has no ground, and if a tool touches the body, nothing happens because the circuit is already open on the negative side. If you disconnect the positive instead, if a screwdriver touches the body, you create a direct short circuit.

Remove rings and watches, use tools with insulated handles, do not rest tools on the battery, and always protect your eyes. Also, remember to work in a well-ventilated area.

How to Fix Code 84 Issue on the Chevrolet Cruze

In this video, you will see how to resolve the Code 84 issue when it appears on the instrument panel of the Chevrolet Cruze. The YouTuber uses an OBDII scanner connected to the EOBD port to correctly decode the error, which relates to the accelerator pedal that does not respond during engine acceleration. The solution is to check the throttle body, which helps send fuel to accelerate the vehicle; it was indeed damaged, and once replaced, the error code is cleared, allowing the vehicle to accelerate normally again.
