How do you replace the car gear knob? Here’s how to remove the gear knob and install the new one. Grip the knob and rotate it left and right until it comes off the gear stick. Use a plastic lever to disconnect the leather gaiter frame if you want to replace it. After removing the damaged knob, simply fit the new one. Install the new leather gaiter with the clips (if removed previously), then take the new knob and push it onto the stick in the centre console until it is secured. Test the movement of the stick in the centre console to ensure the knob is correctly fitted. Replace the knob with one that has the same fitting.
