How to Unlock the Diesel Particulate Filter

When the diesel particulate filter (DPF) is clogged, you need to implement certain procedures to resolve the issue. In some cases, the blockage is such that it is essential to take your vehicle to a workshop for a thorough professional cleaning. In other cases, an automatic procedure will activate that raises the engine temperature, leading to the unlocking of the filter. When the display indicates that the procedure has been activated, maintain the engine revs between 2,000 and 3,000 RPM on a sufficiently clear road to safely carry out the operation while adhering to the highway code. In other cases, the use of specific products may be necessary; in this video, we can see this latter situation: if the automatic unlocking procedure is unsuccessful, pour an activator into the tank, chosen based on your car model and preferred brand. Once the activator is added, raise the engine revs to 3,000 RPM for about 10 minutes. At this point, the activator should have done its job, cleaning the filter.
