What to Do If Your Fuel Gauge Is Stuck

Model: (Various brands) Various

Video tutorial

If you have the bad habit of refuelling with the key in the ignition, especially if it's electronic, or even with the engine running (which should never be done), you may have noticed that the fuel gauge does not rise after refuelling. In this case, the video shows how to proceed.

Get a 10 mm spanner and disconnect one terminal of the battery - the negative one - for at least five minutes. This will reset the system, and the fuel level will return to normal when you reconnect the battery terminal.

Remember that if you have a radio with a code, disconnecting the battery will require the code to be entered. Don't be alarmed if strange warning lights appear when you turn the ignition back on. This is normal after disconnecting the battery.

Just proceed for a while, and all the lights will turn off.
