How to Read Parameters on Wheel Rims

On wheel rims, there are numbers that may seem mysterious at first glance: let's see what they mean. In the example from the video, 7.5 J is the width of the rim expressed in inches. 16 H2 is the diameter of the rim also expressed in inches, while ET35 is the offset. This time the measurement is expressed in millimetres. The J seen next to 7.5 indicates the profile of the rim flange, while H2, next to 16, indicates the type of cross-section profile. The most popular flange profile is the "J" profile, as shown in the example. The bulges on the rim are marked in the example with "H2", and they provide greater rigidity to the tyre. In fact, to fit "runflat" tyres, a specific type of rim with "EH2+" bulges is required. There are also profiles dedicated to agricultural vehicles and heavy machinery.
