The handbrake mechanism helps keep the vehicle stationary once parked, as the handbrake cables transmit force from the lever to the wheel brake mechanisms. It is advisable to replace them simultaneously, as they have approximately the same lifespan. Once you remove the handbrake cable, you need to fit a new one. Access the cable fastening elements and proceed in sequence, starting from one side and then the other. Next, loosen the brake shoes. Once the cable is in place, you can reassemble everything. Finally, press the brake pedal and pull the handbrake a couple of times to adjust it.
