In this video, we see where the fuse boxes of the Volkswagen Jetta A4 are located: but what are fuses used for? Have we ever wondered about it? Fuses are electrical safety devices that protect the car's circuits. In fact, they are the first to burn out in case of a short circuit or overload, interrupting the current. This prevents cables, control units, or any other devices from melting or catching fire. Also, if a system stops working, checking the fuse is the first thing to do. In the Jetta, we find the fuse box inside the thickness of the dashboard: a notch allows us to open the cover and access it. Under the left side of the dashboard, we find relays (which are automated electrical switches) that allow a small circuit to activate a device that requires a lot of current, preventing high current from damaging switches and control units. The main fuse box is instead located above the positive pole of the battery. It contains special fuses for high current applications and prevents the main wiring from short-circuiting.
