To deactivate traction control on a Volkswagen Jetta, start by turning on the instrument panel without starting the engine; activate the hazard lights (4 indicators), then press the brake pedal 5 times in a row until the traction control light comes on the instrument panel; at this point, you can start the engine, put the gearbox in D for automatic vehicles (in first gear for manual vehicles), and try to take off by spinning the wheels while accelerating a bit and releasing the brake pedal for automatic vehicles (release the clutch pedal for manual vehicles).
