In this video, see how to bleed the brakes on the Jetta MK4. You will notice that air has entered the brake system, so you need to remove the cap from underneath to allow the air to escape while an assistant continues to press the pedal from the top at least three times.

On the fourth press, you will hear the stream of air and fluid coming from the cap. Repeat this process several times until the fluid flow is steady, without bubbles or bursts of air. Only then can you be sure that the bleeding has been done correctly.

It is advisable to top up the brake fluid after this operation to maintain the correct level.
