How to replace the battery in the Volkswagen Jetta

When the battery in the Volkswagen Jetta shows no signs of life and does not hold charge during subsequent attempts, it must be replaced with a new one of the same specifications. Open the bonnet and locate the battery on the driver's side. Using a 10mm spanner, first loosen the negative terminal, then the positive terminal. With a 13mm spanner, unscrew the bolt securing the battery hold-down bracket, remove the side cover, and using the designated handles, take out the old battery. Clean the battery tray of any dirt and position the new battery, reattach and secure the bracket, replace the cover, and tighten the terminals starting with the positive.
