How to Reset the Service Light on the Volkswagen Passat B5?

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005
Part: Service warning light

To reset the service light on the Volkswagen Passat B5, press and hold the button located on the right side of the instrument cluster, just below the speedometer. While holding it, turn the key to switch on the ignition, then turn the small knob located on the left side of the instrument cluster. This will allow you to press the button on the right again, performing the reset of the light. To verify that this has been done correctly, turn off and then turn on the ignition again, confirming that it is off.
