How to replace the timing belt on the Volkswagen Golf 6?

To replace the timing belt on the Volkswagen Golf 6, open the bonnet to access the components located in the engine compartment: here you will find the protective panel on the left side of the engine block, which must be removed to access the underlying belt. By also removing the front right wheel and the corresponding wheel arch liner, you can loosen the central nut of the tensioner pulley to reduce the tension on the belt: this can then be removed from its housing and replaced with a new part.
