How to Change the Engine Oil and Filter on an Audi A3

To replace the engine oil and filter on a first-generation Audi A3, bring the engine to operating temperature and then turn it off. Safely lift the vehicle and place a container under the oil sump. Remove the drain plug and allow the used lubricant to fully drain. Next, locate the oil filter and unscrew it using the appropriate tool. Before installing the new one, lightly lubricate the seal with clean oil and screw it on without over-tightening. Once the draining is complete, reattach the sump plug with a new seal and tighten it correctly. Pour the new oil through the filler neck, adhering to the specifications for the engine. Start the engine for a few seconds, turn it off, and wait a few minutes. Check the level and add oil if necessary, then ensure there are no leaks.
