Glove Compartment Door Hinge Repair Instructions

The breakage of the support hinges on the glove compartment door is a common defect in the Audi/Volkswagen family. The manufacturer's proposed solution is to replace the entire door with a new one equipped with two new hinges, which comes at a significant cost. However, the new door is made with the same materials and technology as the original, so it is likely to face the same fate. There are aftermarket repair kits available, or you can opt for a more DIY but durable solution: remove the support pins from what remains of the hinges, glue them into their respective positions with two-component adhesive, and apply self-tapping screws for reinforcement. Drill a pilot hole and paint the heads of the screws to match the door (they are located in a non-visible position).
