Replacing the Shift Boot and Knob on the Audi A6

Model: Audi A6 C7, MK 4 - Years 2011-2018

If the shift boot of the automatic transmission lever on the Audi A6 is worn or you want to replace it with a different material than the original, follow these steps to remove it. Sit in the driver's seat and position the lever in the "N" position. Using a plastic trim tool, if you can't do it with your fingers, lift the rectangular frame at the base. Once released, pull the boot upward to expose the ring at the base of the knob, rotate it to unlock, and with a firm pull, remove the knob along with the old boot. Remove the red insert from the new knob and position it on the lever with the button facing forward, rotate the ring at the base to the locked position, and snap the base of the boot into its housing.
