How to Replace the Car Alternator

Model: Audi Tt 8N, MK 1 - Years 1998-2006
Part: Alternator

The alternator is one of the most important parts of a vehicle's electrical system. It must always be perfectly efficient, as a malfunction could cause serious problems for the battery. This guide shows how to change it. Park the vehicle on a flat surface in a safe location, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery cable corresponding to the negative terminal to avoid accidental sparks. At this point, locate the alternator and take a few minutes to memorize its position relative to other parts. You will see a belt that runs over the pulley connecting to the alternator. Choose the correct size wrench and remove the belt that secures it to the engine block. Then, simply unscrew all the bolts that hold the alternator in place.
