If your Beta is experiencing strange flat spots, especially uphill, it may be time to adjust the carburetion. To do this, remove the air filter manifold (for better visibility) and loosen the carburettor clips. Check the spark plug and clean it. Now, note how many turns the carburettor screw has. Remove the slide spring, the slide itself, and the needle. Try adjusting the needle clip based on how rich the spark plug was. If the carburetion seemed too rich, move the needle clip down (if it was on the second clip, move it to the first). This is the first method: reassemble everything and test the bike. If this is not sufficient, adjust the carburetion by simply working on the carburettor screw, which regulates the fuel flow.
