To change the motor oil and oil filter of a BMW R1200GS, start by lifting the motorcycle and placing it on a central stand or a stable surface. Remove the oil filler cap to allow for better drainage. Place a tray under the engine and unscrew the oil drain plug with a wrench, allowing the used oil to completely drain out. Next, unscrew the oil filter with a specific tool, also removing the worn gasket. Replace the filter with a new one, making sure the gasket is properly positioned. Before reinstalling the drain plug, check the gasket and apply some new oil. Finally, fill the engine with the oil recommended by the manufacturer and reattach the filler cap and drain plug. Check the oil level and start the engine to check for any leaks.
