In this tutorial, you will find instructions to disassemble and replace the rear brake pads on a BMW R 1200 GS. First, position the motorcycle on its centre stand and remove the mudguard by unscrewing the three fixing screws; then unscrew the screws of the brake caliper and remove the fixing pin. At this point, you can extract the caliper along with the brake pads: then remove the old pads and replace them with new ones. Before reassembling everything, clean the braking area of carbon residues and try to push back the caliper piston as much as possible.
