To replace the instrument cluster on a BMW R 1200 GS, you need to unscrew the screws that secure the windscreen, removing it completely; then remove the three circlips that secure the instrument cluster to the frame. At this point, you will be able to slide the instrument cluster out of its housing, disconnecting the connector at the back. Now you can unscrew the screws that secure the back of the instrumentation, removing the old dials and display. This way, you can insert the new ones, reinstalling the entire instrumentation.
