Replacing the Battery on BMW 3 Series Touring E91
Model: BMW Serie 3
E91, E90, E92
- Years 2005-2013
Replacing the starter battery is certainly a maintenance task that can be easily done DIY, provided you dispose of the old one properly. It is likely that the retailer will also give you a discount as a deposit if you let them dispose of it. That said, on the 3 Series, the battery is located in the rear, in the trunk, beneath the load floor, shifted to the right (passenger side). To access it, you must also remove the side trim that serves as a storage compartment. Once you reach the battery, first disconnect the positive terminal plate, then disconnect the battery terminals, the vent tube, and remove the side mounting plate. At this point, you can extract the old battery and proceed in reverse to install the new one.
