To verify, turn off the ignition and turn it back on. If the tire pressure is correct, the TPMS light will not turn back on. If the light remains on, you will need to perform checks, such as verifying the tire pressure according to the manufacturer's label, checking for any leaks. It is rare, but the issue could also be the TPMS button, or the problem could be with the ABS, since the E46 does not have sensors but monitors the system through the ABS.
