Removing the Exterior Rearview Mirror

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003

To remove the exterior rearview mirror, you first need to take off the door panel by removing the mounting screws and disengaging the clips along the edges of the panel. Once the panel is removed, take off the plastic trim along the door pillar to access the mounting screws for the mirror, one of which is located behind the door seal (you also need to detach the supporting plastic for the speaker). After removing the screws, disconnect the plug from the mirror adjustment controls and pull it away from its housing, also pulling out the cable.
